Osh Client Becomes Competitive in the International Market

A manufacturing and commercial cooperative in Osh, Kyrgyzstan has identified the development of exports and entry into foreign markets as their primary business objectives.

  Governor of Jalal-Abad

The Agroelita Manufacturing and Commercial Cooperative was founded in 2004 by a group of entrepreneurs from Osh, Kyrgyzstan, to produce and arrange exports of dried fruits (apples, pears, and prunes), fruit and berry mixes, and dried vegetables grown in South Kyrgyzstan.

Agroelita’s cooperation with the Osh EDC specialists covered all aspects of the cooperative’s operations, from procurement of seeds to sale of the end products. In order to continue expansion, Agroelita identified entry into foreign markets and the export of dried foodstuffs as their primary objectives.

In collaboration with the Osh and Ferghana EDCs, the cooperative was able to establish contacts with suppliers of dried spices from Uzbekistan (see the Success Story for Uzbekistan), and is using those spices in dried fruit products that it plans to market to prospective buyers in Russia. Agroelita has already negotiated a $674,500 contract to deliver prunes, dried peppers, and dill to a wholesale procurement and trading company in Moscow.

During negotiations, both the Osh (Kyrgyzstan) and Ferghana (Uzbekistan) EDCs worked with Agroelita to identify and resolve issues throughout the entire value chain; to evaluate the Russian partner’s commercial offer; to provide detailed information on import and export operations and procedures; and on international delivery contracts. This joint effort has enabled the cooperative to become competitive in the international market.
