USAID Enterprise Development Project holds regional Summit in Bishkek
On 24th and 25th February the USAID EDP Senior Management and Business Consultants from the entire Central Asian region met at the Pinara hotel in Bishkek to review their consulting program to Small and Medium businesses throughout Central Asia.
Sixty people from all twelve of EDP's regional offices took part in the Summit, including Ronald Ashkin, EDP Chief of Party. Mr Ashkin introduced the conference by reinforcing the high level of direct impact the project is having on businesses in the region; in only a year and a half the project consultants have developed Strategic Actions Plans for 830 SME's, and Practice Specialists have implemented over 500 projects on Finance, Marketing and Operations. As of January 31st 2005 the estimated sales of EDP clients was approaching a staggering billion dollars, and is growing rapidly.
